CN-PEKBLT18 – Hutong Half Day Tour (Private)

Morning Hutong & Traditional Tea Experience in Beijing

Your day begins at 8:00 AM with a hotel pickup by your local English-speaking tour guide and private driver.

You’ll head into the heart of old Beijing to explore the iconic Hutongs—narrow alleyways whose name comes from the Mongolian word for “water well.” Originating during the Yuan Dynasty (1271–1368) and typically about 9 meters (30 feet) wide, these lanes are far more than just streets: they are the living soul of Beijing’s local culture.

As the saying goes: “The real culture of Beijing is the culture of the Hutong and Courtyards.” Indeed, these historic neighborhoods—filled with centuries-old siheyuan (courtyard homes), hidden temples, and everyday life—draw more visitors from around the world than even Beijing’s tallest skyscrapers or grandest mansions.

After wandering through the peaceful lanes and soaking in the local atmosphere, you’ll visit a charming Traditional Tea House tucked within the Hutong. Here, you’ll enjoy a serene tasting of authentic Chinese tea, learning about its varieties, brewing methods, and deep cultural significance in a tranquil, intimate setting.

Following this gentle immersion into Beijing’s heritage, you’ll be comfortably transferred back to your hotel—refreshed, enlightened, and carrying the quiet charm of the old city with you.
